Bar & Bat Mitzvah

An important step in each Jewish child's life is the Bar or Bat Mitzvah milestone. At Congregation Etz Chaim, each child enjoys the privilege of a personal celebration. Beginning a year before the joyous day, the Rabbi personally begins working with the student on his or her torah portion. At the end of the year, not only will your child be able to chant his or her Torah portion, and the blessings of the Shabbat service, your son or daughter will also understand the message of the Torah portion and prepare a 'dvar Torah', a message about the relevancy of the portion to his or her life.

Because a large component of preparation for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah is learning to read Hebrew and understanding the Shabbat service, membership at Congregation Etz Chaim and attendance at our Hebrew School from grade 3-7 is a prerequisite to celebrating your child's Bar or Bat Mitzvah at Congregation Etz Chaim. Please contact our Rabbi for more information or to discuss transferring your child from another Hebrew School.
